AlpsenTek Debuts Hybrid Vision Sensors at Europe’s Leading Machine Vision Exhibition, Accelerating Global Industry Partnerships

(13-October-2022,STUTTGART, Germany) AlpsenTek, a pioneer in hybrid vision sensing technology, showcased its latest advancements at VISION 2022, the world’s leading trade fair for machine vision, held at the Stuttgart Exhibition Center from Oct. 4–6. The company’s presence marked the first European demonstration of its high-end ALPIX-Eiger sensor alongside a suite of diverse vision applications.

The ALPIX-Eiger, launched in July 2022, represents a significant shift in vision sensor architecture. Built on the company’s patented Hybrid Vision Sensing (HVS) technology, the sensor integrates event-based sensing within the pixel itself through mixed-signal processing. Featuring an industry leading 1.89μm² pixel size and 8MP resolution, the ALPIX-Eiger is designed for seamless integration into high-volume consumer electronics, including smartphones and action cameras.

Also on display was the ALPIX-Pilatus, the first product in the ALPIX series released in October 2021. Designed for industrial and security surveillance, the Pilatus model features millisecond-level switching between image and event data, offering low-power, all-weather performance.

Bridging the Gap: Bringing Event Sensing to the Consumer Market

Event-based sensing is rapidly becoming a focal point in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine vision sectors, with industry giants such as Sony and Samsung accelerating their investments in the field.

Unlike traditional image sensors that capture full frames at fixed intervals, event sensors record only changes in illumination. This allows for microsecond-level response times, high dynamic range (HDR), and low data redundancy. While early event cameras were confined to specialized industrial use due to high costs and a lack of high-quality image detail, AlpsenTek’s hybrid approach solves these barriers.

By providing both high-quality RGB images and event data streams from a single pixel, the ALPIX solution eliminates the “dual-camera registration” problem—a common hurdle where disparate data sources require complex synchronization. This allows manufacturers in the smartphone, security, and automotive sectors to adopt “black technology” without increasing hardware footprint or computational overhead.

Global Collaboration and Growth

In just three years, AlpsenTek has secured a robust position in the semiconductor ecosystem, launching multiple chips and attracting strategic investment from global leaders including OPPO, Sunny Optical, Lenovo Capital, ArcSoft, and so forth.

“AlpsenTek is committed to an open and win-win philosophy,” said Jian Deng, Founder and CEO of AlpsenTek. “By collaborating with partners across the global upstream and downstream supply chain, we are accelerating the deployment of solutions in mobile, AR/VR, security, and automotive electronics. Our goal is to help our customers differentiate their products and deliver superior experiences to the end-user.”
